Step 1: About Kibin.com
Kibin isn’t a traditional academic writing service. Instead, it provides an alternative for students who prefer to write their own papers. Kibin offers editing and proofreading services, sample essays, and paper grading. They also have a service that helps students formulate their thesis statements.
In spite of these differences, we made every effort to treat this like any other review. After all, students want to know if this company is trustworthy and legit. To find that out, we conducted extensive research that includes:
- Reviewing the Kibin website
- Reading customer reviews and testimonials
- Researching the company’s reputation on BBB, Reddit and other websites
- Comparing prices
- Interacting with customer service
- Reviewing a sample of work
Our goal was to find out if they produced good quality work, offered safe payment options, and finished items before the deadline. Here are some of the features we look for in an online editing service:
- Fair policies
- Attentive customer service
- A well-designed website
- Quality work
- On-time delivery
- Competitive pricing
- Extra content and resources
Keep reading to learn if Kibin is reliable, or a fraud. We’ve provided plenty of details in the paragraphs below. However, if you prefer to skip to our final recommendation, check out the last section on this page. There, we provide our final verdict.
Step 2: Quality of Products and Services
While we researched Kibin.com, we reviewed the entire website and researched all services offered. However, our quality research was done on their editing services. We obtained an example of the work they do, then had our editors review the document. They were instructed to look for grammar issues, plagiarism, spelling errors, and factual mistakes. We can report that it appears as if the editors caught the most significant errors.
As far as other services, we did not use the paper grading services. However, we did review some of the sample essays. Those were decent, but not stellar. They were also quite limited.
Step 3: Writers and Support
Kibin does not employ writers. Instead, they have editors and customer support staff. We evaluated the quality of the editor by taking two elements into consideration. The first is the quality of the written work we received to review. The second is the overall customer sentiment from online reviews, consumer interest websites, and other sources.
We give the editors at Kibin an overall rating of fair. They do seem to do a decent job of editing in many cases. However, students do report some shortcomings and inaccuracies in the editing of advanced or complicated papers. So, this service may be best for high school and early college students.
We attempted to contact customer service to evaluate their professionalism and effectiveness. Unfortunately, we were unable to make contact. This is due to limited options for communicating with customer support, and limited hours. This was something else we thought was unusual, as most services offer 24/7 support.
Step 4: Prices
Students can head over to Kibin.com and get a price quote. They can do this by entering their word count, or uploading a document. The site also asks if the student is ESL. However, we don’t know exactly how that impacts price. For example, a paper of just over 2000 words would be quoted at just over 60 dollars for editing. However, that is with a 120-hour deadline. If a quote was requested for a shorter time period, the price would go up, of course.
When we conducted our pricing research, we learned that there are no discounts. This is unusual as most websites in this niche offer savings for first-time customers, loyalty, large orders, referrals, and seasonal discounts.
Here is where things get a bit shifty. Even though Kibin offers price quotes, they are a bit misleading. The truth is that you are not able to simply place an order. Instead, students are forced to select from one of two subscription tiers. We found it to be quite unfair that students are forced to share a significant amount of information, only to be pressured into a subscription plan. When we consider that so many services offer better editing services at much lower prices, it’s difficult to understand why most students would choose to be locked into a long-term subscription.
Step 5: Additional Features and Discounts
The site does not offer discounts. Therefore, there were no coupon codes. That’s unfortunate, as a promo code would offset the very high cost of services. Kibin.com does have an essay writing blog. We did find the posts there to be somewhat useful. Unfortunately, while the blog is supposed to be monthly, the most recent post was published in 2019. Likewise, a resource section only contains a couple of videos that are of limited use.
Verdict
After examining all the pros & cons, we give Kibin an overall rating of “fair”. While the work done was adequate, the cost was higher than average. Other issues were that the website is nearly impossible to navigate, and it was difficult to access customer support due to limited hours. Of course, the biggest of all our complaints is that students are forced into a subscription before they can receive any sort of assistance. While we don’t recommend Kibin at this time, we also want readers to know that it takes significant effort to cancel that subscription, and it is impossible to get a refund.
