In keeping with our mission, we are here presenting our summary review of custom-writing.org.
Step 1: About Custom-Writing
This academic writing service has been around since 2006. It states that, during this time, it has developed a business model and accumulated the professional staff to handle any student writing need and to do so within as little as three hours, if necessary. What’s more, they state that every piece of writing will be completed by a qualified researcher/writer and will be fully original. Custom-writing offers virtually any type of coursework writing a student might need – essays, papers, reports, reviews, analyses, proposals, projects, theses, dissertations, lab reports, case studies, admissions essays, and more. In this respect, CustomWriting is a comprehensive writing agency.
Among guarantees are plagiarism-free products, confidentiality, meeting deadlines (or a refund), direct communication with a writer, and writers that hold degrees in the content fields in which they write, secure payment methods, and the right to request unlimited revisions.
Step 2: Quality of Products and Services
To judge quality, we rely on several indicators - customer reviews that we find off-site (consumer review websites, social media, etc.), discussions on Reddit, if any, a bit on-site published testimonials, sample products, and the results of a piece of writing which we order ourselves. Here are the results:
-
Custom-Writing received a number of positive comments and feedback on consumer review sites and, of course, it has published a large number of testimonials on its site.
-
There were also some complaints on the off-site sources – missed deadlines, use of ESL writers resulting in grammar and composition errors, and slow or inadequate responses from writers and customer support.
-
The essay we ordered and received was delivered on time, at a reasonable cost. We, too, noticed some compositional errors that indicated a non-native English writer – errors in subject-pronoun agreement, verb tenses, and misuse of articles.
Overall, the ratings of quality are mixed and seem to depend on the specific writer assigned to a task.
Step 3: Writers and Support
Custom-Writing.org has a link titled “about” and one of the selections from the drop-down menu is “Our Team.” We accessed that page hoping for information about its writers. This was not the case. The content featured administrative/managerial, billing, IT, customer support departments, but nothing about its writers. On other pages, we read small snippets that commented on degreed and full expert writers, but no detailed information could be found. Since a company’s reputation is in part dependent upon the backgrounds, experience, and expertise of its writers, we would expect more information.
Customer support is available 24/7 by phone, chat, and email. We had difficulty contacting by phone, so engaged in a live chat with Ed. We asked about a Ph.D. dissertation and were told to fill out an inquiry form to get a response and a price. On the pricing chart, however, it states that a Ph.D. dissertation can be produced in 5 days, at $35/page. This would be a miracle, to be certain.
Step 4: Prices
There is a link to a pricing chart. Pricing begins at $12/page for a high school essay with a 14-day deadline, all the way up to $68/page at the Ph.D. level with a 3-hour deadline. Pricing varies based upon the type of writing, academic level, length, and deadline requirement. The basic chart we reviewed charged the same for everything from an essay to a case study, which we found a bit surprising.
Step 4: Additional Features and Discounts
There is a link to “Study,” and here students will find information on such things as how to find a topic or generate a thesis statement. These are called “tools,” but really are simply explanations of “how-tos.”
Other benefits include direct communication with one’s writer and the ability to request unlimited revisions. There are also policies – terms of use, privacy, cookies, and guarantees.
Relative to discounts, the CustomWriting offers a newcomer 15% discount, as well as loyalty and seasonal price breaks. Students can get a promo code or coupon codes via subscribing to the newsletter or looking for them on the website.
Our Verdict
Custom-Writing.org has been around for many years. It has developed a website that is easy to navigate and provides a lot of important information. We could not find a BBB registration, but the company is certainly not a scam or fraud. Among the pros & cons are the following: Pros: an easy-to-navigate website, clear pricing charts, and direct communication with writers. Cons: some quality issues, no information on writers, and some difficulty reaching the company by phone. All in all, we rate Custom-writing in the “fair” range. Students in need of top-quality products might want to consider an alternative.
